Is any wine produced in the Chianti region, in central Tuscany, Italy. It was historically associated with a squat bottle enclosed in a straw basket, called a fiasco (“flask”; pl. fiaschi); however, the fiasco is only used by a few makers of the wine now; most Chianti is now bottled in more standard shaped wine bottles. Baron Bettino Ricasoli (later Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Italy) created the Chianti recipe of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 15% Malvasia bianca in the middle of the nineteenth century
The city is known for its enormous historical, artistic, landscape and for his stylistic street furniture units purely medieval, as well as for the famous “Palio di Siena“, which annually attracts curious people from all over the world. The same Queen Elizabeth showed interest in this equestrian event requesting a representation in England.
In 1995 the historic center of Siena has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
