Rome is the city monument par excellence. Anyone who visited Rome through the centuries has been fascinated by the countless works of art and history that can be seen throughout the city. But tourists in Rome always walk along the same few streets missing in doing so a vast amount of precious works of art and special features.
Taxi NCC Italy has created a tour for those who want to see the other side of Rome, the less touristy but equally curious and charming.
An alternative 4 hours itinerary. The peculiarity of the monuments visited is the main theme of this itinerary:

- The soup bowl: The fountain protected by the Pope.
A peculiar fountain with a unique feature … it has a cover to protect it from the neglect of citizens. In fact, on market days in Piazza Campo dei Fiori, the Romans used it as a wash for fruits.
Gregory XV then decided to cover it to protect it and it was from then on called by the Romans in a mocking “The soup bowl”. Placed first in Piazza Campo dei Fiori it was later moved away from the merchants. A curious story, don’t you think?
The Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna)
- A cannon ball into the Medici fountain? Would you like to know the story?
An ancient legend says that Cristina of Sweden, resident in Castel S’antangelo, in a dull day had the idea to go hunting to kill time. Not being able to tell promptly the invitees, she shoot a cannon in the direction of the Villa Medici to wake up the host. This is attested by dent of the bronze door of the Villa. That same ball was recovered and inserted in the centre of the fountain in front of the Villa Medici. Legend or truth? Find the clues …. - The convent of Trinità dei Monti and the remarkable painting by Emannuel Maignan and Jean-Francois Niceron. In the painting you can observe in a strange perspective Francesco di Paola in prayer and San Giovanni intent on writing the Apocalypse.
Palazzo Zuccari:
- Monstrous open-wide mouths. These are the decorations of this bizarre building essence of the oestrus of the artist Federico Zuccari.
